New Iberia, La. (KADN) The search continues for Javion Batiste as friends, family, and volunteers gather from all parts of New Iberia.

“That’s all I’m looking for is to find my child,” said Nichole Jagneaux.

Batiste has been missing since Saturday evening, Batiste’s mother, Nichole Jagneaux says her son was driving to New Iberia the last time she spoke with him.

"He was coming to meet a friend in New Iberia. They said that he told his sister that he was gonna be out here. It would take 20 minutes and he would be right back,” said Jagneaux.

Jagneaux started to worry when she noticed her son was not home around 10pm on Saturday. A search started Sunday morning and on Monday afternoon, Batiste’s car was found abandoned in a sugarcane field in New Iberia.

"We found my son's vehicle at the end of St. Jude Street in a field. It was the family that found the car because we've been out here looking,” Jagneaux said.

She also says her son going to New Iberia is out of the ordinary.

"This is not like him. My child barely leaves the house when he leaves he goes to my grandmother or his fathers house and he comes home. He's in the room all the time playing his video game. I mean this is not him,” said Jagneaux.

The New Iberia Police department says they are continuing the search for Javion Batiste. If you have any information on Batiste’s location contact the New Iberia Police Department.
